So, New Years…
First of all, let me start off with resolutions. I don’t like them. They don’t work for me. If they work for you, then, by all means keep using them. I just don’t find they fit with my personality or lifestyle. I go for themes. Themes are general umbrellas in which I strive for in my interactions, choices, thoughts, and words. If they don’t fit with my theme, I make another choice.
A theme is meant to be very general. It works in an most circumstances and I don’t feel the need to beat myself up or judge success or failure. A theme can be healthy, love, or commitment. If my theme is “healthy”, it flows over into every aspect of my life. I ask myself questions. Is this a healthy choice? If I keep making this choice will I remain healthy? This can pertain to my diet, my exercise plan, or how I interact with people or even how I interact with myself. Themes force me to question all of my choices. This is a good thing because it leads us to live conscious lives. Now you may ask, why is a conscious life important? Living a conscious life is extremely important. It takes us out of victim mode and places us at choice. At choice, we are in control of our lives. We may not have control over other people, but we do have control how we will interact with those people. We do have control how we think and in time, how we feel. That’s allow a lot of power because with choices come power. So be gentle with yourselves this year. Take charge of those things you can: Your thoughts and your choices. Choose you.
